During times of uncertainty and political tension, community leaders and trusted messengers–including librarians, local journalists, faith leaders, activists, and others–play a central role in either defusing or escalating risks for violence. To support local leaders in using their platforms to promote peace and cooperation, Over Zero partnered with Pen America to develop a new resource: "Communicating During Contentious Times: Dos and Don'ts to Rise Above the Noise." This resource contains (1) dos and don'ts for local leaders to avoid inadvertently causing harm; (2) specific insights for countering misinformation; and (3) action steps to defuse risks for violence before, during, and after voting occurs.
